Mr. President

Mr. President took Eurodance from Bremen to dancefloors around the world in the nineties. The group centred on two female singers and a rapper, with Coco Jamboo becoming their biggest hit.

The story began in 1991 with Satellite One, a techno project by producers Jens Neumann and Kai Matthiesen. Mr. President initially featured T-Seven and Lady Danii alongside rapper Sir Prophet, who was replaced by Lazy Dee in 1994.

By then, Up’n Away had already attracted attention, reaching number twelve in the German charts and earning a gold record in 1995. The major breakthrough came in summer 1996, when Coco Jamboo spent weeks at number two in Germany and also reached the top spot in other countries. That same summer, I Give You My Heart also made the German Top Ten, followed by Jojo Action at number four in 1997.

The line-up changed several times before the members eventually went their separate ways. Mr. President’s music still lives on at nineties festivals, where former rapper Lazy Dee performs the group’s songs as LayZee.
