About this festival
Smeerboel Festival 2026 takes place on 12 September at Laagravense Plas in Houten, near Utrecht. The open-air event transforms the recreational area into an electronic music festival site with several stages. More than 25 acts from house, techno and hard house will perform. Confirmed names on the line-up include Alignment, Benny Rodrigues, SNTS and TRYM.
The event marks the seasonal close of the festival year in the Utrecht region. Sunny house sounds dominate during the day, while harder techno takes over the stages in the evening. The site offers food trucks, drink stations and designated quiet areas.
The festival is aimed at an adult audience. Payment on site is by card. Parking and a shuttle from Utrecht Centraal station make travelling easier. Smeerboel places importance on sustainability and accessibility.

Questions & answers
How do I get to the festival?
A shuttle bus runs between Utrecht Centraal and the festival site at Laagravenseplas Noord, departing from Jaarbeursplein. Public transport travellers are best advised to travel via Utrecht Centraal, while cycling is expressly recommended; free bicycle parking is available at Koppeldijk in Houten. Taxis have their own dedicated stop, and there is a Kiss-and-Ride zone for pick-ups.
Is parking available?
Drivers should use the P+R Westraven park-and-ride site in Utrecht as their navigation address. Free shuttle buses run from there to the festival site; parking closer to the festival is not available. The standard P+R rate of up to €15.02 per day applies.
How old do I need to be to get in?
Smeerboel Festival is strictly for those aged 18 or over. You may be asked for ID at the entrance; admission is not possible without valid proof.
How do I pay on site?
The festival uses tokens, which can be bought at cash desks and machines across the site and exchanged for food and drinks at bars and food trucks. Card payments only; cash is not accepted. A cup deposit of 0.5 tokens is charged for your first cup.
What happens in bad weather?
If it rains, the site has covered areas where most visitors can stay dry. Ponchos are not provided, so visitors are advised to bring their own rain jacket in wet weather. The festival monitors the forecast and will provide updates if there are any disruptions.
Is the site accessible?
The festival site is partly accessible: there is a widened entrance area, a wheelchair-accessible toilet, plus ramps and wooden flooring at many crossings. However, not all routes are step- and threshold-free, and large parts of the site are on unpaved ground. Visitors with additional needs can contact the festival in advance.
Can I leave the site and re-enter later?
Re-entry is not permitted. Anyone leaving the festival site can only get back in with a new ticket that has not yet been scanned.
Are dogs allowed on site?
Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the festival site. The only exception is assistance dogs; however, bringing an assistance dog is not recommended. Anyone considering this should contact the festival in advance.
What are the opening hours?
Smeerboel Festival is open on 12 September 2026 from 12:00 until 23:00. Entry is possible from 12:00 until 20:00; the entrance closes after that.
