About this festival
On 7 November, Bristol gives five venues over to music. Simple Things returns for its twelfth edition, spreading its programme across Bristol Beacon, Strange Brew, Rough Trade, The Island and the new skatepark space Shredenhams. The day begins at midday and runs into the night.
For the first time, four guests will curate their own programme strands: musician Cobrah takes charge of a club-focused strand of hyperpop and experimental electronic music; Shabaka centres on avant-garde jazz and percussion; Squid on post-punk and noise; and artist Jeremy Deller on folk, art and rave culture, including a revival of his Acid-Brass project with The Listening Project.
The full programme spans The Avalanches and Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, as well as Moor Mother, Mykki Blanco, Olof Dreijer, Nathan Fake, Hannah Diamond and Gold Panda. Evening afterparties follow at Strange Brew and The Island. Saturday tickets currently cost £72.50 including booking fee; one wristband grants access to all venues throughout the day.
