Sub Zero Project

Sub Zero Project are Thomas Velderman and Nigel Coppen, a Dutch duo with a distinctive place in hardstyle. Their music combines the intensity of rawstyle with psytrance-influenced kicks and melodic moments.

It began with Coppen, who first made music alone under the name Sub Zero and got in touch with Velderman through YouTube. They listened to each other’s tracks, decided to collaborate and turned Sub Zero into a joint project. The pair signed with Dirty Workz at the end of 2013; in 2017, “The Project” and its blend of psy kicks and hardstyle brought them widespread attention within the scene.

Their next milestone followed in 2018: with “The Game Changer”, they became the youngest artists to date to create the anthem for Qlimax. Their debut album, “Contagion”, arrived a year later, while their performances had already reached major festivals including Defqon.1 and Tomorrowland. Their tracks continued to resonate with audiences, as “It Will Be Ok” with Dual Damage showed in 2025: the collaboration won Q-Dance’s annual Hardstyle Top 100 vote.

On stage, Sub Zero Project take their music further as a live act. New concepts have repeatedly come with their own looks and visual themes. For festival audiences, their powerful, psytrance-influenced sound meets a show that continues to evolve with the duo.
