Magic Affair

Magic Affair is a German Eurodance project founded by producer Mike Staab at the start of the Nineties. Its original line-up paired Franca Morgano’s vocals with A.K.-S.W.I.F.T.’s rap.

Staab had previously worked with Mysterious Art and, in 1993, followed up on their Omen success with the new project. Initially, only the abbreviation M.A. appeared on the cover, while the title of the first single, “Omen III”, also linked the project to its predecessor. The line-up changed after the first album: Jannet De Lara and Anita Davis took over vocals, with rapper Raz-Ma-Taz joining later.

“Omen III” reached number one in the German charts and earned Magic Affair an Echo in 1995. “Give Me All Your Love” and “In the Middle of the Night” established the project beyond that first major success. After a longer break, Morgano returned to Magic Affair and reunited on stage with A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. for a television appearance in 2009.

The sound changed with the line-ups: the early Eurodance tracks with vocals and rap were followed for a time by a more pop-oriented phase without male rap parts. The project continued after Staab’s death in 2009: Nitro replaced A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. in 2013, and “Hear the Voices” was released with Morgano in 2014.
