BEN KLOCK

BEN KLOCK is a Berlin techno DJ and producer whose name is closely associated with Berghain. A resident there since the mid-2000s, he has become a defining figure in modern Berlin techno.

His curiosity for sound began early: as a child, he experimented with his brother, cassette recorders and snippets from the radio. He later found his way to techno via jungle, trip-hop, drum & bass and house, playing at Berlin's Cookies among other venues in the 1990s. After his first releases in 1998, his enjoyment of DJing began to falter until his Berghain residency gave his enthusiasm for techno fresh momentum.

In 2006, he founded his own label, Klockworks, which has released both his productions and music by other artists. His first album, “One”, arrived in 2009, followed in 2017 by “Phantom Studies”, a collaboration with Marcel Dettmann. That same year, he brought PHOTON to the stage, a project combining sound, light and architecture.

Klock describes the tension in his hypnotic, minimalist techno sets memorably: hard, but with heart.
