About this festival

Zurück zu den Wurzeln Festival – also known as Wurzelfestival – turns the Secret Forest in Niedergörsdorf, Brandenburg, around 80 kilometres south of Berlin, into a four-day festival from 3 to 6 June 2027. Across ten stages, visitors can expect over 200 acts and more than 50 workshops. The musical spectrum ranges from tech house, techno and trance to psytrance, disco and downtempo, as well as experimental music and live bands. Each stage has its own sound, allowing different electronic moods to unfold simultaneously.

The Secret Forest, set on the site of a former military airfield, brings together woodland, industrial remnants and specially designed festival architecture. Camping on site is included, with a €20 tent-pitch fee charged at the entrance. Options include standard tent pitches and car camping, where tents are pitched directly beside the vehicle. The festival places an emphasis on sustainability, offering a repair shop and equipment hire among other services. Workshops, talks and art installations complete the programme. Travel is possible via the nearby BAB exit or by public transport to Luckenwalde station.

Camping

Camping is available without an extra ticket; a €20 camping fee is charged at the entrance. Car camping, traditional tent pitches and motorhome pitches are available. Showers and toilets are provided.

Questions & answers

How do I get to the festival?

You can travel by bus or train to Jüterbog, where a shuttle bus runs to the festival site. The regular shuttle costs €20 and must be paid at check-in on site. Taxis also run between Jüterbog station and the site. The regional train takes five minutes from Jüterbog to Altes Lager, followed by a 20-minute walk to the Secret Forest. Sunny Trips offers comfortable festival shuttles from Berlin, Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Bremen and Hannover. The official Berlin–Leipzig cycle route passes almost directly by the site.

How old do I need to be to get in?

Wurzelfestival is an 18-or-over event. There are no exceptions, no Muttischein and no entry without valid photo ID. Copies of ID, student cards and health insurance cards are not accepted.

How do I pay on site?

Bars and food stalls are cashless, with payment made using the festival wristband. The wristband contains an RFID chip, which can be topped up with cash or card at top-up stations or at the Marktplatz help desk. Cash payments are still accepted by traders on site.

What happens in bad weather?

If severe weather causes the event to be halted, stages must be vacated immediately. Your own tents and camps provide shelter, but trees and elevated areas do not. The safest place during a thunderstorm is your car. Security will inform guests when the all-clear is given.

Is the site accessible?

The festival site is level and accessible without steps. An accessible shower container is available in the Inklusionscamp, and every toilet block has accessible toilets. A service point is available for wheelchair users to charge electric wheelchairs. Anyone whose German disabled person’s pass bears the B marker receives free entry for their companion.

Are dogs allowed on site?

Dogs are not allowed on the festival site. The loud music and crowds would be too stressful for them.
