About this festival
From 11 to 15 November 2026, Oulu hosts the first edition of TAR Festival. The Finnish city festival brings together experimental electronic music and sound art with live performances, DJ sets and a symposium. It forms part of Lumo Art & Tech and the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme. Venues include Tarkastamo, Saari City Library, the Cathedral, Intiö Water Tower, the Market Hall and Aalto-Silo.
The programme spans electroacoustic works, live coding, noise and club-focused sounds. Stefanie Egedy presents a work using deep bass frequencies, while Mark Fell takes over the Water Tower with a sound installation. Carmen Villain, Muqata’a and Perera Elsewhere are also on the bill. Selected events at the Cathedral and Water Tower are free to attend. The Sunday concert at Aalto-Silo is also free, but advance reservation is required due to limited capacity.
