MISCHLUFT

Behind Mischluft is Fritz Model, a DJ and producer from Leipzig who puts his own spin on the trance revival with buoyant beats and a feel for catchy vocals. Moving between euphoric trance and bouncy techno, he prefers finding connections to drawing firm genre boundaries.

Before getting behind the decks, he played drums for ten years and was even part of a jazz band. He first discovered electronic music at 18 at raves in Leipzig; a friend later taught him to DJ and brought him into his DJ collective. From 2019 or 2020, he initially produced melodic techno, until a well-received edit of “Sauf Sport Balance” encouraged him to work more freely under the name Mischluft. His first original tracks under the alias came together during a trip to Australia, while his debut performance as Mischluft took place in Rostock in April 2023.

As early as 2022, the releases “Getting Down” and “imma” had taken his sound to major dancefloors spanning trance, techno and edits. He later appeared behind the decks at Boiler Room, Tomorrowland and Time Warp. His connection with Bad Boombox began with touring together; in January 2025, the pair released their joint EP “The Pressure” via Hot Meal Records.

His sets combine grooving tracks with build-ups, false trails and sudden shifts. Mischluft plays with the crowd’s expectations without losing sight of the flow on the dancefloor. On a festival stage, expect a fluid mix of vocal-led trance, techno grooves and edits.
