About MARK’OH
As Mark ’Oh, Marko Albrecht brought the energy of raves into the pop charts. The DJ and producer from Dorsten became one of Germany’s first DJs to achieve pop-star status in the Nineties.
His path began away from the dancefloor: from 1986 to 1989, he played in the hard rock band Line Up, which he founded himself. He was then drawn to the emerging techno scene; from 1989, he worked as a DJ before later turning to music production as well.
In 1993, a remix by WestBam brought his track „Randy“ to wider attention, followed by „Love Song“ the following year. His major breakthrough came at the end of 1994 with „Tears Don’t Lie“, which reached number one in Germany and Sweden. For the hit, Mark ’Oh turned Michael Holm’s Schlager track „Tränen lügen nicht“ into electronic dance music. In 1995, he performed at Loveparade and Mayday, while his debut album reached number two in Germany.
His music moves between dance, Eurodance and hard trance, combining Nineties club culture with catchy melodies. He also continued to reinterpret well-known tracks later on, working with producer Sam Harris on a „Scatman“ project.
