About E-ROTIC
E-Rotic is a German Eurodance project combining dance music with tongue-in-cheek sexual innuendo. Its sound features female vocals and rap passages, while its early image was defined by striking animated videos.
The project was founded in 1994 by producers David Brandes and Felix Gauder together with singer Lyane Leigh, whom Brandes already knew from the band Xanadu. Leigh initially appeared on stage with rapper Raz-Ma-Taz, while production, studio vocals and the stage line-up did not always overlap behind the scenes. After leaving in 1995, Leigh continued recording in the studio for E-Rotic until 1999 and founded the project S.E.X.Appeal with Raz-Ma-Taz.
E-Rotic's debut single, „Max Don’t Have Sex with Your Ex“, immediately reached number seven in the German singles chart. It was followed by „Fred Come to Bed“, which reached number three in Germany and the top ten in both Austria and Switzerland. These early successes led to the 1995 debut album, „Sex Affairs“.
After a longer break, E-Rotic returned in 2015 with Leigh and producer Brandes. The 2024 studio album „Level Up“ links this new phase with the project's history by bringing together almost all singles released since 2016. The videos have changed too: rather than the earlier cartoon characters, newer productions feature Leigh herself alongside James Allen, who has been predominantly present on stage since 2019.
