DJ Tomekk

DJ Tomekk, born Tomasz Kuklicz, is a hip-hop DJ and producer born in Krakow whose musical career was shaped in Berlin. Since the 1990s, he has connected the German and US hip-hop scenes, often bringing together artists from both sides of the Atlantic.

He moved to West Berlin as a child and grew up in the Wedding district, where he developed an early fascination with DJing. Still a teenager, he hosted his own hip-hop show, „Boogie Down Berlin“, on Kiss FM. When Kurtis Blow urgently needed a DJ for a performance in 1993, Tomekk stepped in and subsequently toured the USA with him. Back in Berlin, he increasingly worked as a producer, bringing American and German voices together on mixtapes.

That idea became a chart success in 1999 with „1, 2, 3 Rhymes Galore“: Grandmaster Flash and Flavor Flav joined Afrob and MC Rene, among others, with the track reaching number six in Germany. His debut album „Return of Hip Hop“ was released in 2001 and peaked at number five in the German album charts. He also scored a German top-ten hit with Lil’ Kim, while his collaborations with other artists extended to remixes for Paul van Dyk.

Tomekk has remained committed to DJing: alongside his work as a radio DJ, he continues to play clubs and festivals. Audiences can expect a hip-hop DJ whose path has taken him from Berlin radio to international tours and cross-genre productions.
