About DA HOOL
Da Hool is the artist name of Bottrop DJ and producer Frank Tomiczek, who helped shape the German techno scene of the early nineties as DJ Hooligan. His story runs from the turntables of a Bottrop nightclub to a track that became known far beyond the rave scene.
He began DJing at 18 alongside training as a technical draughtsman; when he turned to techno, he lost his job at the nightclub. He stayed loyal to the scene, releasing tracks including B.O.T.T.R.O.P. as DJ Hooligan and reaching the international charts for the first time with Rave Nation in 1994. Its success turned DJing into his profession, and in 1996 he founded his B-Sides label and the production company Hool Productions.
His major breakthrough as Da Hool came with Meet Her at the Love Parade: released in 1996 and reissued a year later, the track became a worldwide hit. It reached number four in Germany and France, as well as number 15 in the UK Singles Chart. Bora Bora also entered the UK charts in 1998, while his success as a DJ took him to stages across five continents.
His path from early rave and hardcore house to trance and house shows how adaptable his sound has remained. Despite his international reach, he stayed connected to the club scene and continued to play smaller clubs.
