About ATC
ATC, short for A Touch of Class, brought German Eurodance to international dancefloors around the turn of the millennium. Four voices from four countries and a singalong chorus made the group unmistakable.
Sarah Egglestone from Australia, Joseph „Joey“ Murray from New Zealand, Tracey Elizabeth Packham from England and Livio Salvi from Italy met in Hamburg during a production of the musical Cats. Their work together on stage sparked the wish to make their own music as a group. Producer Alex Christensen supported ATC on their first major release, „Around the World (La La La La La)“.
The track used the melody from „Pesenka“ by the Russian group Ruki Vverh and reached number one in the German charts in 2000. Its success took ATC beyond Germany, followed by the Echo award for Best Dance Act in 2001. „My Heart Beats Like a Drum“ was also among the group’s best-known tracks, before a naming dispute with DJ ATB and the less successful second album overshadowed their first phase. The four split up in 2003, although Murray and Salvi returned to the stage together in 2007 for a performance of their biggest hit.
ATC has returned with a new line-up since 2019. Catchy melodies and the Eurodance sound that made ATC known remain at the heart of the act.
